Stop / Start / Continue

I read something earlier this week about the "Paradox of the Summer Solstice"

I love this idea (and wish I could remember out my source!) It's about how the days are now getting shorter, BUT there's also so much left in the year.

As we race into July and the second half of 2023, it's a great time to take a few moments to reflect. My favorite technique for this? Stop / Start / Continue

🛑 STOP: What have you been doing this first half of the year that you want to *stop* doing? 🛑

Working too late or on your day off? Feeling too nervous to share your ideas in meetings? Stop talking yourself out of applying for a new job?

What unhelpful patterns or behaviors can you decide to end now?

💚 START: What new practices, boundaries, and habits will help keep you on track to hit your goals this year? 💚

Can you start setting clearer expectations with your direct report? Start sharing your brilliant ideas in meetings? Start taking a lunch break? (that's on my list!)

Tip – Challenge yourself to take whatever ideas come up for you here and ask "How can I make that even easier?"

And finally:

♻ CONTINUE: What *is* working for you right now? What habits and practices do you have now that are helping you? ♻

Maybe it's a no-meeting day. Or a community you're part of. Or an exercise buddy. How can you maintain that momentum, even with summer disruptions like vacations (and beautiful weather calling you outside!)

Taking just 15 minutes to do a brainstorm on these prompts will be time well spent – the perfect is the enemy of the good!
